Kirtana performed last year in Mendocino where many people were moved to tears. For anyone who is not familiar with her music, Kirtana is a gifted songwriter whose music evokes stillness and deep peace. With gracious melodies, life-affirming lyrics and spare but lovely acoustic arrangements, she leads us to union with nature, spirit and our fellow travelers on this path.
In addition to her own concerts, she performs for well known spiritual teachers such as Eckhart Tolle, Byron Katie and Gangaji. She is accompanied on some of her CD’s by local renowned musicians Alex De Grassi and Spencer Brewer.
The usual category designation for such music is 'New Age Vocal', but a more appropriate genre might be 'Music for Awakening' or 'Contemporary Sacred'. In Kirtana's own words the best description for both her music and her purpose in sharing it is to "celebrate divine love and the truth of who we are."

Freestyle community dance comes to Yoga Mendocino on the second Friday of every month. Come stretch your body and soul with some funky rhythms and playful interaction with friends. Local djBasin will bump out some world beat, motown, contemporary dance tunes to move the body and touch the heart. The dance is structured in the shape of a wave form, starting very slowly and quietly and gradually building in tempo and heat through a variety of musical textures to a raucous, rowdy climax, followed by a long, winding down, settling like a hot air balloon, bouyantly relaxing back into a released, meditative closing. Be sure to arrive on time to enjoy the entire ride.
