Jami Sieber on Shantala: Shantala is Benjy and Heather Wertheimer and together they create concerts of love and bliss. They exude what it means to be musicians with heart. Their background in music, performance, and various spiritual traditions come together in a diverse collage of transcendent sound. You don't to be a avid Kirtan chanter, or even know how to sing to be able to enjoy the depth and beauty of their concerts. Benjy has played on three of my recordings - Hidden Sky, Only Breath, and Unspoken - he truly is one of my most favorite musicians to work with. Benjy's tabla and esraj playing brings one on a journey to a far off land across the waters. Heather and Benjy's voices alone and together bring you closer to your self. Not only are they talented musicians but the lyrics of their songs have meaning and relevance to our lives at this time. There is no reason why one should stay home when the opportunity is given to experience Heather and Benjy LIVE in concert!!! |
Kirtan like you've never experienced it before! (unless you came to the full house last year...) Fri May 25th 7 pm $15-20 sliding scale Tickets available online and at the Mendocino Book Company& as always at YoMo. Get your tickets early, tickets will go fast.

2nd Friday evening of each month 7:30pm until 9:00pm Freestyle community dance comes to Yoga Mendocino on the second Friday of every month. Come stretch your body and soul with some funky rhythms and playful interaction with friends. Local djBasin will bump out some world beat, motown, contemporary dance tunes to move the body and touch the heart. The dance is structured in the shape of a wave form, starting very slowly and quietly and gradually building in tempo and heat through a variety of musical textures to a raucous, rowdy climax, followed by a long, winding down, settling like a hot air balloon, bouyantly relaxing back into a released, meditative closing. Be sure to arrive on time to enjoy the entire ride. If you have questions, email djBasin@mac.comThis is a barefoot dance, and dress to sweat! Stretch your body and soul with some funky rhythms and playful interactions with friends.Admission is by voluntary contribution, so finances will not hold you back. |
